Commonwealth Senate

The Senate is publicly elected.

Senators share the task of making and adapting laws with both Houses, but also debate the issues of the day (debating) and check and challenge the work of the union government.

It is one of the key places where various union government ministers, like the Commonwealth Ministers across the civil service and Commonwealth Secretaries, work.

Union government in the context of scrutiny means the Commonwealth Civil Service of the Union State of British Commonwealth with exception to the Commonwealth Exchequer and its business.
